Restaurant Review : Love Sugar Dough, Pune

A Mumbai based chain, Love Sugar Dough, famously known as LSD, is known for putting up gorgeous desserts!

Made popular by their mini-cupcakes and cheesecakes, LSD can be summarised by one word in desserts, that is, indulgence.

AMBIANCE

Walking in ,LSD captivates you with the charm of a dainty french pâtisserie. 

Large glass chandeliers dangle from the ceiling adding brightness and  touch of refinement!

Pretty white and gold wallpaper gives an airy but homely feeling about the place.

Plush silver couches and a quaint bookstand give that familiar welcoming feeling. 

Strolling through the cafe,  collectors items are strewn all over the cafe, like this amazing world time table, upon which you can have dessert!

Walking up to the counter you can't help but notice beautiful glass ice-cream jars adding pink,white and green hues! Just making the pastry more inviting.

FOOD

The cupcake counter is the first thing that catches your eye!

A host of colours and flavours adorn the window waiting for a dessert lover to make a selection.. We chose 6!

Top Row (Left to Right)

1. Blueberry - Atop a buttery cupcake sits a swirl of blueberry cream. The rich cake is complimented by the fruity punch of a blueberry jam, tucked away in the blueberry cream. Quite a surprise!
2. Strawberry Fresh Cream- A mini cupcake, covered in a fresh and light strawberry cream. The texture of the cream is airy and compliments the cake well.
3. Choco Blast- A dark mini cupcake, is coated in a generous layer of chocolate cream. You experience a double hit of a dark cake and a rich chocolate cream, definitely a must try for chocolate addicts.

Bottom Row (Left to Right)

1. Chocolate Mocha- A rich chocolate mini-cupcake is capped with a super airy swirl of a coffee flavoured cream, topped with a light sprinkle of mocha. One bite gives you a bitter hit of coffee, enveloped by the sweetness of the cake and cream. By far the best cupcake!
2. Red Velvet- Rich velvety cupcake is coated in a stiff cream. A favourite on the menu, the cupcake is generous on the butter, however is fresh to taste and the cream, does add to the smoothness of texture, making it extra velvety
3. Chocolate Truffle- A chocolate cupcake is topped with a swirl of chocolate ganache! The ganache is topped with nuts mimicking a crunchy exterior of a chocolate truffle. A dish well thought off and executed well!

LEMON CAKE

A rich cake is made light by a subtle lemon icing. However the texture of the icing is grainy and slightly greasy.

The lemon zest over the top of the icing does add an extra bit of zing.

The cake is made well, but is let down by the icing.

Love Sugar Dough, a delightful pâtisserie, dishing up some gorgeously photogenic desserts!

Our only inhibition about the place is that you can pack on the  pounds quite fast with the quantity of butter used! 

But then again it is about superb pastry!

Our recommendation is not to take a parcel as the pastry oozes quite a bit of butter and tastes quite flat when it is warm.

The place completely lives up to Love, Sugar and Dough!
