Restaurant Review: Arthur's Theme, Koregaon Park, Pune

Hey from EL The Cook!

We review today, Arthur's Theme, one of Pune's oldest restaurants serving up English cuisine . Arthur's Theme boasts an exceptional English grandeur in terms of its ambiance and menu. With dishes named after England's Kings, the food here demands to be tasted!

AMBIANCE

Rustic and English. With shields adorning the walls, Arthur's Theme does boast some exemplary looks. The problem we found was the mosquitos, really a bother in such a fine dining place!

CONAN

The quintessential English entree, batter fried fish fingers. The crispness of golden batter is diluted by skimpy portions of fish. The taste of batter overwhelms the flavour of the rawas. The batter is also oily and hasn't been well drained.
The accompanying mayonnaise based dip is light and compliments the fish well.

BEATRIX

A pretty looking dish the beatrix is graceful to look at. Chicken fillets are stuffed with an earthy mushroom and olive filling. The flavour of the chicken is lifted by the herbs and complemented by the creamy sauce.

A pleasure to eat from start to finish, beatrix is a wonderful dish!

EXCALIBUR

A glorious looking dish, excalibur boasts of succulent turkey served in a creamy apple-brandy sauce. The richness of the sauce and the tenderness of the meat are real positives to the dish.
The sweet aroma of brandy engulfs you as you take your first bite. The apple flavour is a subtle hint.. The potato croquettes are light and  airy.
A great dish, which keeps you thinking about the combination of flavours!

Arthur's Theme, known for their wonderfully rustic English food and superb ambiance, falter on a couple of issues, such as mosquitos and overly battered fish, but still churn out some great food.

In an era where the customer is more educated about world foods, Arthur's Theme needs a slight step up to the culinary scene. What can be nothing short of an amazing experience of English cuisine is dulled by ordinary cooking of some dishes.

A visibly exceptional experience of English cooking, which can be much better!
