Restaurant Review : Josephine Chez Dumonet, Paris, France

Hey From EL The Cook!

Today we review, the classic french bistro Josephine Chez Dumonet located in Paris' 6th Arr. on Rue de Cherche Mide.

Rustic and old fashioned, the restaurant has been in the family for 3 generations. Run today by Jean Dumonet, the place serves up French classics such as Beef Bourgiugnon and Steak Tartare..

CONFIT DE CANARD MAISON (HOUSE CONFIT DUCK)

The duck is fabulously tender and skin is crispy. The meat is moist and flavorful and the crunchy skin only helps to make the taste more memorable. The salad is refreshing with the baby spinach in extra virgin olive oil!

BOEUF BOURGUIGNON AUX TAGLIATELLES

A french classic, with beef tenders stewed in a thick burgundy sauce for 2 days! The beef is glutenous and splits with a spoon! The taste is very rustic almost like the dish is prepared in the middle of the french countryside beside a warm fire! Super comfort food.

MILLEFUILLE DE PIGEON ET SES CUISSES CONFITES

Who knew pigeon could taste so good?
Dumonet serves up one of the most unforgettable foods we've had in Paris! The confit pigeon is cooked to perfection, but what really ticked our taste-buds was the quality of the sauce. Deep, rich and sensual, the sauce coats your tongue leaving us speechless!
To add to the depth of this dish, a millefuille(literally a thousand layers) of finely sliced potato achieves a crisp texture, topping the dish!

An unforgettable experience is this dish!

SOUFFLE AU GRAND MARNIER SERVIS AVEC SON PETIT VERRE

Grand Marnier, an orange scented brandy based liquor is served over the most incredible looking cheese souffle we have ever seen!
The giant souffle's top is sprinkled with fine sugar. The Grand Marnier served beside it in  a tiny glass!
The theatrical moment is when you dunk the liquor into the souffle and orange flavored steam erupts from its surface!
The souffle is brilliant, light and airy. The flavor of orange and hint of brandy makes this a dessert which is unmissable in Paris!

Josephine Chez Dumonet, a small, rustic restaurant in the by-lanes of the 6th Arr. shows how to do French classics close to perfection!

They say the quintessential Parisian bistro doesn't enchant anymore. But we found otherwise!

Josephine Chez Dumonet is surely a must visit for the traveller who has his heart longing for traditional French fare!
