Hello from El The Cook! If you happen to be in Pune this weekend, and are in the mood for sizzlers, The Place-Touche` The Sizzler is "the place" to be!

The Place, has been around for 4 decades, started by a Parsi family wanting to provide Pune with the taste of sizzlers back in the 1970's . The ambiance is rustic and perfect for an outing with family or friends. However be prepared for a huge crowd over the weekends, because of its popularity.

The sheer variety of sizzlers available here is commendable and ingredients used are fresh and wholesome.

Since one would visit The Place for sizzlers, it is recommended to avoid ordering a starter course since the portions are large.

Here are the recommended sizzlers..



Beef Shashlik Sizzler 

Shashlik (Shish Kebab) is a common form of preparation of skewered meat cooked over a slow fire marinaded in a blend of vinegar and spices. Beef Shashlik served here is well done and glazed with a brown spiced sauce. The veggies and fries compliment the meat well and is a complete meal!


Chicken Shashlik Sizzler

The Chicken Shashlik is succulent and grilled to perfection. The meat falls apart is cooked beautifully. The charring of the chicken is done well although it is missing a little extra sauce.




Chicken Mandarin Sizzler

The Place also provides Chinese-styled sizzlers on their menu. The chicken is diced into inch- sized cubes. The marination is done in a blend of tangy Chinese spices adding an oriental flavor to the dish. The veggies compliment the mandarin chicken but lack acidity, so essential in a Chinese dish.


  
Chicken Mixed Grill Sizzler

A dish for the true carnivore in you, The Mixed Grill Sizzler, will satisfy any meat-lovers palette. With a blend of Chicken Steak, Salami, Chicken Sausage & Grilled chicken, all cooked on a slow fire; this dish entices the senses just looking at the picture!
The variety of cuts of meat offered in this dish almost proves too much, but it is balanced well. The stewed,caramelized onions add a bit of sweetness and the veggies add freshness.




Veg Oriental

For the vegan freak, The Place offers amazing vegetarian sizzlers too! The Veg Oriental, contains perfectly cooked dices of cottage cheese in a tangy sweet-sour sauce. The garlicky tones of this sizzler makes you want to order one even if you are 4 tables away!


Prawns Balchão Sizzler

Balchão is a traditional Goan method of cooking resembling pickling, in which dried shrimp paste and coconut vinegar are blended into a tangy spicy tomato chilli sauce. The result is a spectacular burst of flavor on your palette. Combine this, with a sizzler recipe, and you get The Prawns Balchão Sizzler!
Marinated in the Balchão masala, succulent Tiger Prawns are served are cooked just right to give you that amazing Goan taste, instantly transporting you to the beach!
