Hey from EL The Cook!
Oriental Salads are super fresh and super quick! Our smoked tea infused chicken when paired with the flavours of the orient result in mind-blowing flavours..
This salad is perfect for a quick supper or a refreshing lunch snack. Our smoked chicken recipe which you can find here can be done a day before and then tossed in with the salad.
You can also use char-grilled or barbecue chicken which will go spectacularly with this recipe!
INGREDIENTS: (Serves 2)
(Cook Time : 10 minutes)
- 2 tea smoked chicken breasts
- 1 medium orange, sliced
- 80g lettuce leaves, torn
- 1 spring onion, very finely sliced on a steep diagonal
- Pinch of roasted sesame seeds
- Salt and pepper for seasoning
Dressing:
- 1 tsp light soy sauce
- 1 tsp orange juice
- 1/2 tsp toasted sesame oil
KITCHEN EQUIPMENT:
- Large bowl
- Chefs knife
- Cutting board
- Serving Plates
METHOD:
- Slice the chicken, on the diagonal into slices about 3-4mm thick. If you're not using our tea-infused smoked chicken, and you're cooking your own chicken, you could always marinade in a tbsp each of dark soy sauce and honey before grilling to give it some flavour and colour.
- Whisk the dressing ingredients together, then toss the leaves in it immediately before serving. Divide the leaves between two plates (or four for starter portions), then top with the orange & chicken and scatter with the sliced spring onions, toasted sesame seeds and enjoy!
For that burst of flavour from the orient, try our Smoky chicken salad with fresh orange for a sweet, smoky yet refreshing salad!
