Udaipur is the City of Lakes! Today we review one of its most famous restaurants located on Fateh Sagar Lake.

1559 AD was the year when Maharana Udai Singhji founded the city of Udaipur. 

 The restaurant takes you to the bygone era to experience the old world hospitality. The first restaurant was started in the city of Udaipur in September 2009.

MEDITERRANEAN SALAD 

Fresh garden veggies are tossed together with a vibrant red wine dressing to give a beautiful feel of mediterranean flavors. The salad is fresh and welcoming from the hot weather outside! 

FISH FINGERS

White river fish is pan fried in a crispy batter to give the classic English snack. The fish is moist and batter sufficiently light! The fish fingers are served up with a tartar sauce which is nothing to brag about but does well to compliment the fish.

LAL MAAS

This traditional Rajasthani speciality is made with mutton well marinated in red chilis and various Indian Spices. The Lal Maas is generally notoriously spicy leaving you gasping for a glass of water.

1559 AD regulates the spice of the Lal Maas according to your palette which we found to be a real pleasure.

The meat is tender and succulent and spices are distinguishable. The chili is not too over powering and all in all a great dish.    

JEERA RICE

Freshly made jeera rice is a great accompaniment to Lal Maas. The fragrant cumin gives a lovely airiness to the gravy, making it easy to eat. The long grain rice is a pleasure to eat!

PISTA BADAM KULFI

Kulfi is an Indian made ice-cream dessert. Frozen concentrated milk cloaked in spices like saffron and nuts, is super creamy! 

1559 AD entices our senses with this gorgeous kesar kulfi which melts in the mouth and leaves you wanting more with every bite!
