Italian Secrets! Super Simple,Luscious Tiramisu!

Its been a long time since our last post, so we decided to bring you something just drop dead gorgeous! With Christmas just round the corner, we though of something which really rings in that Christmas Cheer!

Enter the luscious Italian dessert, Tiramisu!

Tiramisu in Italian means "pick me up" or "cheer me up". Simple ingredients fuse together to create an amazing dessert.

You will need 2 specific ingredients mascarpone cheese and lady finger biscuits (pictured below) which are widely available at your local supermarket. You can stock these in advance as they have a long shelf life.

Here's what you'll need to make this indulgent dessert!

INGREDIENTS: (Serves 2, if your extra indulgent)

(Cook Time : 15 minutes, 1 hour to set in fridge)
  • 250gm Mascarpone cheese
  • 10 lady finger biscuits
  • 15 gm instant coffee
  • 100ml warm water
  • 60 ml coffee liqueur (Kahlua) 
  • 15 gm cocoa powder
  • 15 gm grated chocolate




KITCHEN EQUIPMENT:
  • Large bowl
  • Cup measure
  • Stand mixer or hand mixer
  • Square serving dish

METHOD:

  • Add the instant coffee powder into the water and mix.
  • To the serving dish add 5 lady fingers and drizzle half the coffee. Add half the liqueur evenly over the biscuits. Allow the biscuits to soften.
  • In a large bowl, add the mascarpone cheese and whip with the hand mixer until, the cheese is roughly double its volume 
  • Layer the cheese a top the biscuit layer gently. Spread evenly.
  • Repeat this process until you get 2 even layers
  • Sprinkle the top layer with cocoa powder and grated chocolate.
  • Allow to set in the fridge for 1 hour before serving.
