Ramadan Evenings! - The Best Chicken Shawarma & Seekh Kebab!

CHICKEN SHAWARMA WITH CHEESE AND EGG, at HITE BAR, CAMP

Hey everyone!

The festival of Ramadan (Ramzan) often entails some of the best cured meats around town.

So we checked out some of the markets in search of the city's best Chicken Shawarma.
Our search literally began and ended at Hite Bar, Convent Street.

Well known around Pune, for their snappy service and delicious meals, Hite Bar was made famous by their Chicken Shawarma. And they still do it to perfection.

The journey of our shawarma began almost 6 hours before, with succulent, marinated chicken breasts being put on a spit and placed in front of a flaming hot grill.

This brilliantly slow cooked meat is then mixed in a combination of herb chutney, yogurt and tomato flavoured spice mix. Upon your choosing egg and cheese can be added!

Fresh veggies are then added to a roll of pita or a hot-dog bread and then the meat is added. The blend of textures of the slightly seared chicken, crispness of the sauce and freshness of the veggies makes it a cracker of a dish!

Hite Bar, truly reflects street food during Ramadan and  we'll be surprised if your not going back to order another finger-licking shawarma!

MUTTON SEEKH KEBAB, at RADIO HOTEL, CAMP

So our tale of Ramadan evenings continues with a search for mutton seekh kebabs!

Minced mutton is gently marinated in a blend of spices which include kashmiri chillies, cumin, black pepper & turmeric.

The meat is then rolled out, skewered and thrust into a flaming tandoor!

This traditional Pakistani dish is a delicacy during Ramadan!

Radio Hotel, serves up some of the best street fare during Ramadan. Their mutton seekh kebabs are succulent and a pleasure to eat. The flavour is well balanced and the mint leaves and lemon wedged served as a side do add an extra bit of zing!

The chutney is unfortunately missing and the plate really yearns for a touch of green.

The Festival of Ramadan, usually brings out the best slow cooked meats the city has to offer!

The aromas of the tandoor and hints of lime fill the air as you walk along lit streets with crowded stalls all serving the produce of the season.

Its truly a pleasure to food lovers and critics alike to experience such a spread of flavour and fervour of food!

The streets come alive with Ramadan Evenings! Dont miss it!
