We visited one of Pune's essentials, Cafe GoodLuck, for a heavenly experience of Irani chai!

Cafe Goodluck lays claim to the few remaining Irani cafes located across the city. Serving up fresh, nostalgic cuisine, since 1935, Cafe Goodluck has really earned its place in Pune's folklore.

We recommend a visit on weekdays, since weekends are really busy and you will not get a space easily.


Famous here is the bun maska chai (literally buttered bun with tea) ,without which a visit to Cafe Goodluck would be incomplete.

The airiness of the bun with the saltiness of the butter make this an unforgettable taste! The tea served is brilliantly seasoned and matured.

 The traditional method of having a bun maska-chai is to split the bun and dunking half into the steaming hot cup of chai, soaking it with spicy sweetness..Before it disintegrates, place it on your palette, just as it begins to dissolve!

For those with a sweet-tooth, try the bun jam-maska chai. The mixed fruit jam smothered pillow like bun is melt-in-the-mouth! Dunked in chai, its is better than most desserts!
