Restaurant Review : Bar Bar, Pheonix Marketcity, VimanNagar, Pune

Hey from EL The Cook!

We visit the newest addah in town, serving up booze by the truck-load, Bar-Bar.

With a pun on the word Bar, the restaurant's name itself invites you back, as bar-bar in Hindi means repeated-ly coming back for more!

The philosophy of this place is simple, drink more, pay less!

Managed by Bellona Hospitality, which brings us Shizusan and 212 cafe, Bar-Bar immediately springs up for a great choice for a weekend outing with friends!

Food is inspired by the Bombay street scene, with toasties, flavored popcorn and dabbas for mains!

Heres what we had for a tipple and grub..

AMIGOS TEQUILA BEER

We began our tippling with Amigos Tequila flavored beer available in bunches of threes for a cheaper deal!

We enjoyed the flavor of the beer, slightly hinted with tequila, however overall for the experienced drinker, this beer will compare to a Bacardi Breezer. The tones are wheatish and sweet.

DIY BASKET OF FRIES WITH 3 DIPS

Bar-Bar, showcases their finger food through its fries! The menu mentions some gibberish word, which translates out to potato, which almost caused us to miss the page!

The twice cooked fries are good, right amount of crunch on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The wedges have a lovely smooth texture as you bite its crispy covering.
The shoestring fries are spiced generously, however were soggy and soft, and not great at all.

The fries are served with 3 dips which were pretty average.

STANLEY KA DABBA

Capturing the essence of Indian street food is what many fine dine restaurants try to replicate these days. Bar-Bar offers us a dabba concept  for its mains. The dabbas are divided into distinct cuisines and coupled with catchy names reflecting the cuisine.
Stanley ka Dabba, showcasing Goan food, is what we ordered. Also available is Lucy Lui ka Dabba (Chinese cuisine), Irrfan ka Dabba (Ramadan cuisine) and Lovely Singh Ka Dabba (Punjabi cuisine)

Stanley Ka Dabba, comes with 3 tiffins, the bottom filled with fragrant rice, the middle with some beautifully aromatic prawn curry, and the top with some crispy okra which is the standout of the dabba. As a side some crispy rice chips are also served.

The balance of the dabba food in terms of texture and color is vibrant. The crispy okra took us by surprise, the curry is wonderfully rich and fragrant!
A must try are Bar-Bars Dabbas!

Bar-Bar, a concept restaurant and pub where you drink more and pay less. Perfect for large groups of people, Bar-Bar offers a plethora of street food on the menu.

Bar-Bar, is a great place to socialize with friends on a weekend. With great prices for drink and ever inviting food, we are sure to visit bar-bar!

Cheers from EL The Cook!
