We start the year with an opulent and royal post. We as common citizens often wonder what is to live and dine like a royal..

Well, we at EL The Cook, take you through our wonderful journey where we dined like royals at 1135 AD, located at the grand Amber Palace, Jaipur!

AMBIANCE:

There are few places that match up to 1135 AD in terms of ambiance. Located in the uppermost helm of Amber Palace, this place is nothing short of grandeur.

Entering 1135 AD, you are completely astounded by its royal vibes. Studded with gold and silver, its walls resonate with royalty.
With its silver chairs and embroidered table cloths, one is instantly transported into a Rajasthani durbar! Along the walls hang paintings of past kings and hand written notes from all its celebrity visitors such as Bill Clinton, The Duchess of York etc.

And if the visual prospects don't stun you enough, there's the live orchestra playing traditional Indian instruments like the sitar and tabla for your entertainment.

Lighting in 1135 AD is sober and creates the mood of a truly fine dining experience. With heavy glass chandeliers and large candelabra in the room and the outdoor seating section this place is fitting for the romantics as well.

Rajasthani cuisine is famous for a few things; Lal Maas (Mutton in a spicy red gravy) and Lamb Kebab preparations are a must try. Where better to try these than Jaipur's royal kitchens!

PAPADADUMS

Served complimentary, the first thing on the table is the exotic papad, the thin sheet of gram flour is served usually as a disc. However the royal style is served up in a cone on a silver platter!
The cone is well spiced with nuances of garlic, cumin and black pepper. This is just the start we'd expect to a royal meal!
