A Surprising Discovery!! (Italian with a Persian Twist?)

KINGS RESTAURANT,PUNE CAMP, INDIA

As you walk up the dingy flight of stairs connecting the place to the famous Badshah Falooda Cafe,Pune, India you get the quaint feeling that there is a surprise waiting for you upstairs.(Beware of hitting your head on the way up!)

A dozen tables greet you with a soft ambiance and rustic Persian artifacts on the walls as well as an original "His Masters Voice" gramophone in the corner of the room only heightens the comfort while you place your order.

Food is central to the Persian palette and Kings take pride in serving you amazing parsi dishes such as a mouth-watering "patrani macchi" which consists of perfectly cooked pomfret coated with an intricate blend of coriander, cumin, green chilies and coconut powder, steamed &  served up in a banana leaf.

The fish melts on your tongue leaving you wanting more.

Surprisingly this unassuming Persian restaurant serves up some of the best spaghetti with meatballs in Pune. A note to the hardcore critic: A slight modification of the original recipe which uses beef, instead mutton is used.

The dish is a brilliant combination of frictionless spaghetti topped with a sumptuous and well balanced tomato sauce. The meatballs themselves are seasoned to perfection with hints of celery and oregano. Together, on the plate they make a divine combination. Each bite is nothing less than a confirmation of a dish which would only be right when had on the streets of Italy, with the warm smell of fresh bread in the air.

The only drawback is that the dish might take a little time when you order it.

The Kings Restaurant is a secret loft serving up some delicious continental food. Be sure to discover it and experience some unique dishes, some which certainly can surprise an acclaimed European critic!
